Citation Linker Service Restored

MHC Library Services is pleased to report that citation linker service has been restored ahead of schedule by means of the new WorldCat Link Resolver.

With WorldCat Link Resolver, library users can enter a specific article or journal title to be directed to the appropriate database where that full-text resource is available.

The new link resolver is accessible on the MHC Library homepage via the Locate a specific journal or article link.

Employment Opportunity: Intern Librarian

Medicine Hat College Library Services, in collaboration with the Medicine Hat Public Library and the Shortgrass Library System, is offering an exciting opportunity to allow a recent graduate of a Canadian library school program to gain experience within an academic library, a public library, and a regional library system.

The shared internship position is one of many collaborative initiatives at MHC Library Services.

This is a full-time position for the term July 2, 2014 to June 30, 2015.  The Intern Librarian will spend one-third of the employment term working at each of the three libraries.

James Kuehn: May User of the Month

James Kuehn

The Vera Bracken Library is an essential component of my teaching and learning. What makes this place so great are not the bricks and mortar, but the staff. They have always accommodated my requests for technology, loan extensions, and even space where CADD students can present their ideas.

Vera Bracken’s staff make my job as an instructor much more enjoyable. I also access the library as a student of Athabasca University.

My research is greatly accelerated by having an excellent on-site library, rather than relying on eBooks. The library has me covered from research, to writing, through to presentation.

Writing this reminds me that I have some books due…
