The Tattooed Lady: Feb 26 at Noon

The Tattooed Lady, one of the Human Library "books" available from MHC Library Services, will be available to chat and answer questions on Wednesday, February 26th at noon in the Vera Bracken Library's Southwest Lounge. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The Human Library collection was created as a partnership between MHC Library Services and Medicine Hat Public Library.  Library staff have recruited human books from all walks of life, including: a critical care nurse to talk about end of life decision making, a survivor of rape, a search and rescue volunteer, someone who works to integrate people coming out of jail back into society, a reflexologist, a funeral director, a parent of twins, an alderman, a Camino de Santiago pilgrim, a person with body art, a person who uses animals in research, a knitter, and more.

To view a list of human library titles, search for "human library" in the MHC Library Services catalogue.

Taylor Bullman: February User of the Month

Taylor Bullman
Bachelor of Education

“Over the course of my four years at MHC, the Vera Bracken Library has offered consistent and reliable support which has helped me complete my studies in Elementary Education. I feel that the combined efforts of the library staff have also allowed a blended student body the opportunity to begin their life journeys through post-secondary study. In addition to a rich collection of resources and tech rentals, events and services like the free speech board, book discards, prize draws and library tours have made this place a living place of learning. Libraries like the Vera Bracken are keystones for promoting literacy in our college community, and our curriculum section is especially valuable to practicum students seeking resources to enrich their classrooms in the future. I especially appreciate the promotion of controversial literature through the ‘Banned Books’ theme which supports our freedom to read, write, and express ourselves.”
