The Human Library

MHC Library Services is pleased to announce a new partnership with Medicine Hat Public Library: The Human Library.  Beginning in February, individuals with interesting knowledge or experience will be catalogued by subject and be available to be "checked out" for one-on-one discussions.  Everyone is invited to help celebrate the launch of this program at Medicine Hat Public Library on January 31st starting at 10:30 a.m.

New Materials Lists - December 2012

More than 230 new audiovisual and print resources were added that month.

New Database - Canada Info Desk

Library Services has added Grey House's Canada Info Desk database to its collection of resources. Canada Info Desk is comprised of 10 separate databases that can be searched collectively or individually.  All of these products can be accessed via Library Services' Canadian Studies database page.

Canada Info Desk
An all-encompassing Canadian online source that provides access to the following eight databases: Canadian Almanac, Associations Canada, Libraries Canada, Canadian Parliamentary Guide, Canadian Environmental Resource Guide, Governments Canada, Financial Services Canada, & History of Canada.

Associations Canada
Details on over 19,000 Canadian and International associations that represent industry, commercial and professional groups, registered charities and special interest groups. These organization and their 25,000 executives provide the inside track to a wealth of industry information making this robust database an important networking and career and business building resource.

Canadian Almanac & Directory
An online version of the flagship book published since 1847. This resource contains a wide range of listings covering everything from Airlines to Zoos.

Canadian Parliamentary Guide
Published since before Confederation, this is the most complete guide, providing comprehensive information and biographies on elected and appointed members in federal and provincial government. Also contains the complete electoral history of Canada.

Canadian Environmental Resource Guide
Canada's most complete national online listing of organizations and governmental agencies that focus on this increasingly important topic. Medicine Hat College Library Services is currently accepting applications to fill a vacancy on its team as the Information and Technology Librarian.
