Happy Halloween from Library Services!

Poking fun at recent rodent-related media coverage, the team at Library Services transformed the Vera Bracken Library's service desks (and various staff members) accordingly.  Thankfully, the Alberta Rat Patrol was on hand to contain this outbreak.

Charanjit Kaur Ubhi - October User of the Month

"Feeling great - selected as a library user of the month. I am Charanjit, a student of the OTA/PTA program. I am an international student from India. I have visited so many libraries but I found the Vera Bracken Library the best of its kind. It is fully equipped with all the resources required by every age group. I always love to spend my time in this library. I can’t explain why I find the atmosphere of this library so pleasant and soothing to mind that I don’t feel like going home for studying. This library feels like my home and the staff of the library seems like a family, so co-operative and helpful at every step; you just say it and they are ready to help you as much as they can. They are the most valuable asset to this wonderful library. For me the best place in Medicine Hat is the Vera Bracken Library with wonderful resources which we all should take advantage of. Good luck to all for your future endeavors."

Top Hat Teen Reads

The Medicine Hat College Library invites all students to participate in a reading initiative this school year.

The Vera Bracken Library along with the Medicine Hat Public Library and together with Eagle Butte High School, Medicine Hat High School & Crescent Heights High School are working together on this project. The idea is simple enough. We want students to read more. To that end we've chosen a selection of books that cover a wide variety of things. We’d like you to read them over the year and then vote on your favourite at the end of the school year.

For education students this is an opportunity to see what your future students are reading. For everyone else the books are a nice diversion from your regular intense readings. We know how busy college can be, but reading is a great change of pace to our hectic lives.

Some books you’ll be inclined to read. Some you won’t, but we’d like you to try something new. We’ve planned events and prizes for those who participate. Details, updates and everything you need to know can be found on our blog – tophatteenreads.blogspot.ca or just drop by and visit us in the library.

So come check us out. Read something new. Yolo.
